Children's Table

This is another one that had been in my shop for a while.  It is nice and sturdy and solid oak, but it didn't really do anything for me and I didn't know what to do with it.  I ended up painting it white and hated it.  So, I decided to turn it into a kid's table.  I love it now!

I adore the green and white together and the stripes.

Love that distressing makes it even more kid friendly--no worries about scratching paint!

French Country Corner Cabinet

This cute little cabinet has been sitting in my shop for a while.  I think I changed my mind about half a dozen times on what I wanted to do with it.  I finally decided it needed to go from country to French country.  :)

I love the look of layered paint and, of course!, the distressing.

 

It originally had a door panel in the bottom door, but it was missing, so I replaced it with chicken wire.

Antique Dresser

I've been wanting something different to use as a tv console, but have a small space to put it in, so when I saw this cute little antique dresser I thought it would be perfect. I converted it by taking the top two drawers out (left them in for pics) and making shelves for the open space. Craig is bringing it home tonight, so I hope it looks good in the space otherwise it will be Ania's new dresser (love when I get to keep something!). :)

I have a confession...when I see a pic of a piece of furniture and get it in my mind that I want it then I have a hard time walking away when I see the actual piece (even if it's not in that great of shape).  So, I had my heart set on this little cutie, and when I saw it the veneer (it was advertised as solid oak, yeah right) was peeling and not that great.  I should have walked away, but the price wasn't bad and I told myself I could fix it.  I ended up stripping all the veneer off the top (and, in the process, christening this piece with my blood), filling in parts on the drawers, and distressing the minor imperfections.  My point?  Be flexible and willing to walk!

That being said--I really like how it turned out. :)

I wanted to do this in copper penny, but I've been having the itch to change the colors in my living/dining room and knew if I painted it this soft white then when I decided to refinish it like this...

 then the white underneath wouldn't be an issue.

Armoire

One of my besties said she had this armoire she wanted to do and I've been wanting to try subway art, so I asked her if she was game.  Of course she was! Love her for that! :)  She was turning her old tv armoire into a craft cabinet, so it was the perfect guinea pig.

I realized the right door was a little tilted in this picture, so it makes the words look a little off.  Just needed a little tweaking. ;)

So, this friend loves heavy distressing....a girl after my own heart.  I don't get to do that very often, so I was in seventh heaven!

I painted the doors a creamy white first, then used spray adhesive and heavy cardstock to stick the lettering on (next time I will use vinyl lettering, cuz this was a nightmare), but you live and you learn, right?  Then did two coats of the gray, distressed, and sealed.

The original hardware looked great on this new color!

There are a few things I would do differently next time, but for the first try I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. 

p.s.  I love that these words mean so much to her and now she has a reminder of the wonderful and important places in her life every time she wants to create something! :)

Sofa Table

Love the lines of this sofa table.  It's solid, but the fnish was a little worn and it just needed a little updating.

I moved my "photo booth" into my shop so I don't have to drag all my furniture across Craig's shop by myself (cuz he's usually not there).  The lighting is great, but now I have to paint-- so excuse the ugly wall and trim please! :)

Antique Dresser in Pumpkin

I picked up this great, not-so-little antique dresser a couple of weeks ago.  I've been doing a lot of black and white so I wanted to do something a little off-beat with it.  I had a girl ask if I had a dresser, I said I did, and she told me to do whatever I wanted with it.  I told her I wanted to do a pumpkin color and she said to go for it.  Yea! Love when that happens!! :)

It was already in good condition except for the veneer on the bottom drawer. 

Before you take a peek at the after you have to know I didn't sleep very well after I painted this one.  I've never painted anything this color and I was so worried she wouldn't like it!  Before I showed it to her I told her I would be happy to paint it again if she wasn't happy with it, and when she saw it she said, "Why?  What's wrong with it?  I love the color!"  Needless to say, I was so happy! :)

After

Ok, so  seriously, pictures never do a color justice.  This color has a lot of depth to it in person and I absolutely love it with the distressing. 

Is it weird that this makes my heart beat just a little faster? lol  I adore it.

great feet!

These spindles are to die for, and are my absolute favorite part about this dresser.  I love the warmth and the softness of the wood (especially with this color).

She may not be for everybody, but I love it!
