Buffet Repurposed as Bathroom Vanity

My client brought this beautiful buffet to me and wanted to know if we could make it work for a vanity in her bathroom. It was in beautiful condition (so, just a little guilt when I had my go-to guy hack it apart).

 Before

Here it is during the process.  We had to gut the middle by removing the glides and supports for the drawers.  We also removed the top so she could replace it with a piece of stone (white quartz??  I'm excited to  see what she decides!!).  At this point I really was feeling a little guilty!  We saved the drawer fronts, but cut off the drawers for the top two to make room for the plumbing.  When all the plumbing is finished she can just attach the drawer fronts and no one will ever know! :)

I sanded down the door fronts to the bare wood because there were a few gouges, but the rest of it was just scuffed sanded with 220.

 After

Oh my, I think I'm jealous she gets to use this for a vanity!! ;)

I just set the old top on for pics...

Wish I had a better place to display her (but I think she even makes my ugly old shop look better!).

I hope I get pics when she's in her room with her new top on!

Love when someone can repurpose a piece of furniture!

    1. My go-to black is always All Surface Enamel in stock black by Sherwin Williams. I did use Varathane in satin for my poly. The secret is to sand, sand, sand! :) I use up to a 500 grit for the final coat and then sand between the two coats of poly. Hope that helps! And, thank you! :)
