You know a lot of things grab my attention when I am looking at a piece of furniture. I love great legs, lots of detail, cute aprons or skirts, and, of course,
CURVY DRAWERS!
I have a super soft spot for serpentine style pieces, so when I saw this one on CL I could not pass it up!
They were even kind enough to deliver it (that's a first for me)!
It was in great condition and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it the moment I saw it.
You see, I was in Home Depot a few months ago looking at Glidden colors and one practically jumped off the shelf and threw itself at me!
I looked at the name of the color and was in love...you know that feeling, don't you?!! ;) It had to go on just the right piece. It had to go on a curvy drawer!
Well, fate has made another match....
Highboy dresser with serpentine drawer...

"Red Delicious"
*I had it color matched @ Sherwin Williams

After
It's not this bright (hate when that happens, for some reason all the colored pieces look like neon!). It really is the color of the apple in Snow White--you know, the one that almost killed her. ;)
These next pics are truer to the real color
*sigh* just want to run my hand over that top drawer!
I actually kept the original hardware on this dresser because I absolutely adore how the curve in the pulls mimics the curve in the top drawer! But, it was missing two pulls so I moved them around and put these clock knobs on the top drawer instead (you know I can't resist a fun knob!).
I cleaned them up and sprayed them black.
Check out those keyholes and that cute little skirt! :)
I wanted a more natural look for the top to go with all that red, so I sanded it down, stained it in Dark Walnut and gave it a few coats of poly.
I love these highboys with the paneled sides!
The inside of the drawers weren't quite up to par ;) so I lined them with this bold black and white fabric.

Love the color, you did a wonderful job. andi thewednesdaybaker
ReplyDeleteWell, you got me! That is delicious, for sure! And you're right... reds are very tricky as they can be all over the place and in not a good way. This one is a keeper and I will make sure I write down the name for future use. I am now your newest follower and if you have the time, drop by my blog for a visit. I always love meeting new creative people!

ReplyDeleteThat's a great remodel. Good job! Did you spray the paint or brush it? It's hard to get reds to cover that well and smooth.
