This is the last black piece I will be showing for a while --I think! :) I've done 14 of the buggers in a row (black pieces) and I'm ready for a little color! :)
You know my little heart went pitter patter when my client brought this buffet in. ( I have a little fetish, obsession thing for buffets.) It's so beautiful (you know when I say an old piece of furniture is beautiful I am talking about the shape and not the color).
I wish they still made them like this!

When I am painting something with a lot of detail (that's not raised) black I'm afraid of them getting "lost". This sweet buffet is going in a nursery along with this dresser/hutch combo I recently finished. I wanted to make the detail on the bottom drawer pop, but was afraid to distress it too heavily because she likes very little distressing. She's doing the nursery in gray, yellow, and black, so I decided to "pick out" the detail with a little silver paint. I still wanted it to be subtle so I sanded most of it back off which left it in the grooves. I love how you only really notice it when it catches the light.
Was so happy to get to use these knobs again, which match the knobs I used on the other dresser.
Sometimes I think veneer gets a bad rap. There was a beautiful piece of veneer on the top, which was in excellent condition, so I gently sanded it down, re-stained it, and did 3 coats of poly.
Just loving her! It's actually going to be used as a changing table for the time being!
