Old World Table

Sometimes when I see a piece of furniture I know exactly what I want it to look like.  This sweet little table was one of those.  I absolutely love the curvy top and drawer, but those hideous pulls grabbed your focus.  I love the layered and textured look some old world pieces have and I thought she would look perfect that way.

 I sanded it down, re-stained it, hit it with a hammer, poked it with a screwdriver, waxed it with dark wax, and then a coat of clear wax.  It makes my heart go pitter-patter. ;)  Love that it has all the original scratches and marks.  It makes me wonder who sat at it and what they did.  

 I broke every single painting rule there is when doing this one, and loved every second of it.  I didn't prime, I wasn't careful with how I brushed it, I didn't coat it evenly, and I brushed over it when it was still drying.  I also painted it three different colors.  I love all the texture the paint has.  I distressed, sanded, and then waxed with dark wax.  

 Adore these knobs, too. :)

Dresser (for a sweet girl)

I lost the before pic of this little dresser. It was your run-of-the-mill oak wood tone with those winged back plated pulls I love so much.

It's going in the same room as this sweet dresser I've been so in love with.

The pull out shelf was a laminate, so I primed, painted, did not distress, and clear coated.

I haven't done very many pieces that I haven't distressed.  I admit, it was hard to not go for the sanding block.  ;)  It reminded me a bit of a filing cabinet before with it's clean lines and hardware.  But, a new color and changing out the pulls fixed that.  I love the simplicity of it.

Danish Buffet

I'm sure she was a little blonde beauty in her day, but it was time for an update. :)  I love the clean lines of this buffet and the hardware, but the color just looked washed out.

 I was going to leave the whole top wood, but when I sanded it down I realized the middle was a very thin veneer and spots didn't look very good.  The outside edge was solid wood, so I decided to leave it. Love the contrast.  

 The original hardware got lost on all of that light colored wood.  It has a great patina.  I love how it just pops now and how the copper edge picks up the warmth of the wood trim.

 Are you wondering why one of the pulls is missing?  I will just say that one of the pieces of hardware ended up on the end of a fishing pole and now a new part is being machined.  Yah.

This turned out to be a gorgeous piece of furniture.

Girl's Accent Table

I'm not exactly sure why I bought this funky little table. Maybe cuz I thought nobody else wanted it? When I got it home I wondered what the heck I was going to do with it! But, then I saw this pic

and felt totally inspired. :)  Ok, ok, I know some of you think it's "obnoxious", but I loved doing something totally different than I normally do, and the bonus?  I think it turned out adorable!!

 I couldn't figure out if I liked all the knobs on the original one (honestly, I thought they were a little odd), but I thought what could I do that would make them cute and functional?   So, I thought they could be used as a place to hang a little girl's necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, etc.  I love how eclectic all the knobs look.  Ania designated the bottom knob the "lollipop" knob. :)

 in my opinion a funky shaped table needed a funky color.  I think they just fit together. :)

Gray Dresser II

This was advertised as "the deal of the day!". Gotta love that. :) This dresser is going to be used as a tv console in the same room as this armoire.  It also belongs to the sister if the girl who own's this one (I thought there was going to be a fight ;) ).  Now she has her own and all is well. :)

 The distressing on this drawer was an accident (yes, I still have those!).  I was impatient and used a heavy grit sanding block when it wasn't quite dry.  I thought I was going to have to redo it, but finally decided that I really liked it and it turned out to be my favorite part of the dresser!  (hers too, so no worries)

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I love the industrial look of this hardware, especially with the color and the distressing.  It was black and I ended up layering two different colors of metallic spray paint--just lightly misting to blend the colors.

I was a big fan of the knobs on the first dresser and, of course, on this one too!
