French Script Hutch

Painting is just like life--it rarely goes as planned!  Sometimes you get that rare piece that is in beautiful condition and needs little prep work.  Painting goes smoothly and it's done in no time.  Ummm, this was NOT one of those pieces.

I've been wanting to do a hutch since I first started painting....

 I'm cured now. :)

I practically had to stand on my head to finish this beast, but it's done and I think it turned out really well.

(I think my shop being stacked to the brim with waiting projects didn't help my stress level on this one, but as soon as it was done and I took pics it felt like a huge weight had been lifted--now I can move on!! lol)

btw--it's really hard to take good pics with that darn glass!

                        Before

 After

 Ok, I adore it!

I finally got smart and opened the doors...haha.

there are glass shelves that go in here, but I didn't put them in for pics because they were filthy dirty and I was too lazy in a big hurry...

Love the detail on the top!

  11. Love the script! All you stencil-ers... you amaze me. I just did a small stencil project and it came out craptastic. Thank goodness it's a holiday gift! [NOT] I have no idea how you could keep your sanity AND get that back to look so fabulous! Did you put a new back on the china cabinet, or take the back off in order to paint/stencil it?

I understand that huge-ness of doing a large piece, I've done my fair share of hutches and China Cabinets... personally I prefer them to smaller items like end tables, etc.. And I've grown to love spray paint, even if it's just a primer coat to jump start a big project followed by dry brushed rolled on layers. I dream of selling enough items to afford a sprayer... alas, still a dream!

    Lovely make-over!
