I came across this cute little buffet this summer. I admit, I had a hard time getting past the funky wood pieces on the front, but I absolutely loved that it was a little smaller and the other details. I mentioned yesterday that I had the angel/devil thing going on over the gray dresser I did. Well, same with this one. Only this time my sensible side won out. :) You win some, you lose some, right?? I originally had wanted to do this in Peacock Blue and had myself totally convinced that's what I was doing. Then I pulled it out and that little naggy inner voice (don't you just hate that thing?!) said, "Lisa, you really should paint this one black." Yes, I know. My inner voice is BORING! BUT, I love almost anything in black and this one is no exception. AND, I think she looks anything but boring! ;)
Before
First I had to scrape those horrid "things" (they were really just very thin strips of veneer) off the front. Used my chisel for that job and it's the easiest veneer I've ever dealt with. God was smiling down on me!
Then sanded smooth...now ready for primer and paint!
Can't you just see a monogram in that little oval??
This top looks and feels like glass.
These drawers were so ugly before--dirty and lined with nasty green felt.
