Pine Hutch

Another makeover that has been a long time coming! This beautiful, but well loved (and a little neglected by me), pine hutch has been patiently sitting in my shop gathering dust (seriously--a LOT of dust!) and holding my supplies.

I feel like my time is running short so I bumped her up on the list to move her along. 

 A few people tell me they get tired of seeing black, but it still is the best seller.  Go figure! :)  Probably because it is so versatile, always looks good, and can be an anchor in any room.  I figured if you are going to have a huge piece of furniture in your room (and don't want to paint it again yourself) then it better be something you can live with for a long time.  :)

Anyway--I've had quite a few colorful pieces in my shop in the last month, so it's back to the basics for me!

 Pine has such a natural warmth to it (and I love, because it is so soft,  that it retains "memories" so well).  So, I stained it a lighter color to let her character show. :)

 I kept all the knobs understated but had to go with something fun for the pullout! :)

Robin Egg Dresser

Recently my hubby and his business partner bought a building for their countertop business (they had previously been renting a building). It's been exciting news as far as the family business is concerned ( I really am happy about it!), BUT there is no room for me at the new building.

Until I figure out what I'm going to do I have the issue of reducing getting rid of my inventory at our current building.   So, I have been pulling out pieces that have been sitting in my shop for a LONG time, simply because I haven't known what to do with them.  

This dresser is a perfect example.  I originally bought it because I liked the shape of it and the price was right.  But, I didn't realize just how big and bulky it looked until I got it home.  So, there it sat for months because I just wasn't feeling inspired.  

Then along comes this wonderful lady and says she would like to have me refinish it for her.  I said, "Sure.  Where's it going?"  She said it was going in her bedroom, which is gray and white with accents of robin egg blue.   Perfect!!  I seriously was so excited!!  I've been wanting to do something this color for a while now, but just didn't have the right piece.  I just love how things come together sometimes. :)

I know I say this about everything :), but I am LoViNg this color!!

 It had a pretty piece of pine for the top, so I sanded all the old varnish off (it was really rough!) and then restained it in Dark Walnut from Minwax.

 The color is Reflecting Pool from SW and then I stained over it with Provincial (Minwax).  *When you use a stain over blues it leaves a little bit greener. 

My favorite cup pulls (sprayed with Oil Rubbed Bronze).  I also sprayed the flower knobs with the same (they were originally black).

 I love how the distressing turned out on this one.
