Desk Makeover

I have people tell me I'm creative.  I'm not sure about that.  Sometimes I feel like it just comes to me and sometimes I really struggle.  I've done around 250 pieces of furniture in the last year and a half and I think my brain is tired! :)

This cute little desk/vanity was sitting in my garage and I just could not think of what to do with it.

I didn't want to think about what to do with it.

I went through 10 different colors in my head and just could not visualize it in any of them.   I absolutely adore this radio cabinet I did last week, so I thought why not just do it in the same color?  Who said I had to do something totally different?  And,  I could totally see it.  No need to reinvent the wheel, right?? ;)

 Before
Love this pic of me in the mirror and my son's legs sticking out the bottom! ;)

 After

This time I didn't glaze over the color, so it's a little fresher looking than the radio cabinet.  It's hard to say which way I like it more because they're both so pretty.

I love this color with white underneath, so I rubbed through parts of the drawers.

These amazing flower knobs again and I've been waiting to put these cute faucet knobs on something.   I just happened to have four of them, so I totally believe it was fate! :)  Plus, I am so in a gardening mood this year, so I love the idea of the flowers with the faucets!

Such a great little mirror so it could be used as a vanity as well.

This piece is actually solid oak so I sanded the top down and stained it in Dark Walnut.

  2. Perfect! That treatment is soooo beautiful!!! I am the same....I feel like I need to do something different with each piece, then I burn out. I love blues and whites and greens, so i've decided that's what I'll stick with. They sell easiest, and I always have those colors on hand. :)

  9. Well, I for one am in awe of your talent. It is one thing for me to cut into and paint/ink up a piece of paper or two....but I don't know that I would have the courage to dive into something as big as a piece of furniture!

  13. YES . . . you are one of the most creative furniture painters I know! I absolutely loved the radio cabinet and I adore this as well! Oh my goodness, what a great idea to put old water faucet knobs on for drawer pulls. I was a bit taken aback to see your cute pic in the mirror with the much larger legs peeking from beneath the dresser! Funny!

Thank you for continuing to create and inspire those of us who want to be just like you!

    Blessings,
    Patti
