Antique Waterfall Desk

I think I've mentioned before that I'm not a huge fan of waterfall furniture.  BUT, this desk was in such great shape and I was looking for something for a specific color I had in mind and it fit the bill perfectly.  The previous owner had already stripped it so I was tickled she had done the prep work for me already! :)

She said it had belonged to her great grandmother, then her grandmother (who had used it for a sewing table), and then her.  Love that it has been so well taken care of by all of these lovely ladies!

This soft blue/green is so lovely.  I actually have the shade lighter on my hallway wall and the shade darker in my bathroom.  I love them all! :)  It looks a little bluer and a little lighter in the pics than it actually is.

This is the color it really is and while we're looking at the color can we talk about these knobs?!  Aren't they just perfect?  I've used them once before and couldn't wait to put them on something else!

Before you yell at me for ditching the hardware (it looks a little like Bakelite from the pics) please know it was plastic!!  So, I had no trouble saying bye-bye yucky pulls! ;)

I had to pour water on the bottom of my garage door to get it to open today.  I seriously can't wait until it's above 32 freaking degrees!

It has a gorgeous piece of mahogany veneer for the top.  It was already partly stripped so I hand sanded it the rest of the way down and then used my new favorite (Java Gel Stain) to stain the top.  It's fabulous!  Look at that grain!

Here's a little secret...  I have been so completely unmotivated lately.  Like, literally have to drag my self out to the garage unmotivated.  So, I am thrilled that I've finished two pieces in two days and will have another one done tomorrow. :)

C'mon Spring!  I know you can do it!!

  1. You seem pretty motivated to me, Lisa! I'm the unmotivated and uninspired one lately. I have worked on exactly one project ~ painting a sign and since I'm waiting on the vinyl for it to arrive, I'm back to nothing. This blue is so pretty and I love how you did the detailing. I didn't realize the bottom was so pretty in the before. In fact, I didn't notice the bottom at all in the before picture. Another great transformation!
