Antique Radio Table in Peacock Blue

I picked up this little ex-radio cabinet a few months ago.  I fell in love with the turned legs and the amazing details!  I knew I wanted to do something different with it, but I couldn't decide exactly what, so I sat on it for a while.  This week I had my "ah-ha" moment with it and couldn't wait to get it done (right in the middle of doing 3 other projects!).  I'm so glad I did and I couldn't be happier with it!

 It's actually a little more green (a real teal) than this, but I could not get a pic where the color showed up true. 

I painted it Peacock by Behr, distressed, and then glazed with Martha Stewart Metallic Glaze in Black Coffee.  I love that stuff!  It goes on and wipes off better than any other glaze I've worked with and it has this great subtle sheen to it.  

These seriously make me swoon (you don't get faint over furniture??)  !!  LOVE them!!!

These bi-fold doors were headed to the garbage, so I snatched them up.

Burlap Wreath

I saw a super cute burlap wreath on the internet (I'll be darned if I can find it again!) and decided to make my own.   I thought it might be putzy and take forever like this wreath (you already know patience is not one of my virtues!), but it was really fast and easy.  Really! :)  

 I used a 10" wreath form because I wasn't sure how much burlap it would take and I didn't want to go too big.  I also used floral pins which I thought worked great.

 I've seen tutorials where they used yards of burlap but I picked up two rolls of burlap ribbon in the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby instead.  It was 1/2 off and it was already 6 inches wide (saved me some cutting!).

Rolled it out against my yard stick and cut every 6".

 1.  fold in half to make a triangle.  2.  Fold in the top corner to meet the bottom on the front side.

3.  Fold the other top corner down on the back side.  4.  Put floral pin through bottom to hold corners.

You can "fluff" them a little a this point.

 Stick floral pin into wreath form.

 I alternated the "bubbles" so they weren't lined up.  

add your favorite embellishment 

and  

VOILA!!

It took me about 45 min to make.

1st Anniversary and God's Hand

It's officially been a year since I've started this furniture adventure!
Woo hoo!!

  I've had so much fun learning a new skill, but I can honestly say this has been more of a journey about self-discovery than anything else. 

I believe God gives us all gifts and talents and we have the opportunity to waste them or to develop them.  Our talents are different but compliment each other.  We help each other to learn and to grow and we inspire one another, hopefully to be better and to do better.  

I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to create, almost every day, things I think are beautiful.  But, this picture reminded me that God is the Master Creator.  The works of His hands are evident around us every day.   And, personally, I don't think anything compares to the work of the Master's hand!

These last two years have been hard ones for me, and for my family.  I've lost people I love and have had to rediscover me.  I've questioned a lot of things lately, but have always come back to knowing that God lives.  I am so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who knows me and has directed me to find something He knows helps me feel fulfilled and just makes me happy.  I truly do believe in the tender mercies of the Lord.   

To all of you who have been so supportive, who have encouraged and given so many kind words, I give you a heartfelt 'Thank You!!!'.  This has been a vehicle for me to meet so many wonderful people.  What a blessing!  

My heart is full this morning and I'm going to enjoy this beautiful day with my family!  Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed weekend!!
