Depression Era Hutch Redo

I'm a Jane Austen fan (sometimes I think I was born in the wrong place and the wrong century, but then I realize I am way too sassy to have lived in England in the 1800's!  No man would have ever married me!).  Pride & Prejudice is my favorite story (how can you not love a witty young lady and a dashingly handsome, rich young man?) ;) .  I've watched the BBC version and won't tell you how I felt about it (although it's grown on me a little-lol).  But, I really enjoyed the Keira Knightly version. I know. I know. ;)

I absolutely fell in love with this room--more particularly the color and texture of the walls!

They inspired me on this piece.

This is my second time using ASCP.  I have been secretly coveting a quart of Duck Egg and I finally broke down and ordered it.  I couldn't be more thrilled with it!  I love the variation in the color after you  wax or clear coat it (I've done both).  It distresses so well and really does have that vintage look.

 There was a little "inset" at the bottom of the piece so I used the opportunity to turn it into a french label.  I just white washed the spot before using wax paper to transfer the graphic.

 Another set of great legs!  Ooh la la!!

The hardware couldn't be more perfect for this piece.  At first, I put the original hardware back on.  I stared at it for about 30 sec and then decided it just didn't "fit" anymore.  So, off with the old and in with the new!  It's so feminine (and my dear hubby informed me this color was "girly" so it is absolutely perfect!!).

 I used a wet rag to distress and it looks so natural and left the dark finish underneath (where a sanding block would have removed a lot of that dark stain).  

I hope she finds a good home (or, just maybe, I secretly don't because then I will be forced to keep her!)
